The best band in the world.

This is Footloose, we played our last gig together on 1/12/07 that is me on the drums.

My life on the road.

I started way back in the late 70s being a roadie for my mate who was a drummer, going out setting up his kit for a couple of beers, then in the early 80s he got a job drumming for a band called Flash & then i became there roadie, travelling up & down the country, they also had a rock band on the side of that called Stormbringer, of which i also roadied for,but then i started of my Drumming career back in 1983/4 with a 3piece called The RPD band, I do not need to be reminded of this because it was my 1st time of Drumming & singing and had not quite got it right at the beginning, but  i was with this band for about 2 years & in this time was quite good at  playing drums & singing harmony & occasionally lead vocal, & in 1985 joined a 4piece band called Sweet Melody playing songs from the 50s' 60s, 70s & 80s which went down a storm in the working mens clubs across the country, we won the Lincolnshire Club award of 1985, i was with the band for 2yrs & at the end of 1987 the band split & i was out of work until 2 former members of the band got in touch with me because they wanted a drummer for there new band, i jumped at the chance & with the former Sweet Melody bass player & lead guitarist set out as 'Sweet Memories' this 4piece outfit performed songs from the 50s, 60s, 70s & 80s & went down well in the clubs & pubs across the country, & in August 1988 we got our chance to perform in a hotel in Dubai for 3 months after getting through a audition in Doncaster, things did not work out & after 3 weeks we were back in the UK, the agent got us a full diary of bookings on our return, & supported Roy Chubby Brown at the Embassy Skegness, but at the end of 1988 Sweet Memories dispanded, it was not long before i got with another outfit 'Sons Of Jet' which were a tribute to Cliff & the Shadows & The Beatles, Sons Of Jet performed at Cleethorpes, doing a full set of Cliff songs for the Grimsby Cliff Richard fan club, also on the bill was Tony Rivers & Mick Clarke, Tony arranged all of Cliff's backing vocals & with Mick Clarke who was a original member of 70s band The Rubettes, sang live with Cliff on stage & on his records, 'Sons Of Jet' also performed at the Hilton hotel in Dusseldorf, Germany doing our Beatles tribute, also on the bill was a Roy Orbison look alike & soundalike Gerry Grant who sadly passed away on Feb 18th 2010 of cancer, Gerry appeared on the TV show Stars In There Eyes, 'Sons Of Jet' also supported the likes of, The Rockin Berries, Marmalade, Freddie & The Dreamers & Mike Penders Searchers, doing the Hotels & camps for Butlins & Warner Holidays, Sons Of Jet split in 1990 but it wasn't long before i got together with a band called The Sillouettes, playing music from the 50s to the 90s, in about 1995 i decided to call it a day & sold my drumkit, but Mick the lead singer & founder of the band came knocking a year or so afterwards & wanted to put the band back together, with a bit of boot lickin i decided to give it one more go, & then Footloose was born, unfortunately Footloose dispanded in December 2007, but the singer Mike, (who is my best mate) is a Elvis Tribute artist, & i help him out doing his sound & lights, & i am also drumming for his 'Memories Of Elvis Show' with Rhythm Express which is a 9 piece band & have already done 2 gigs which went down brilliantly & we are hoping for theatre work in the future, also i am drumming for my friend Col Lewis, who is a great singer/songwriter, so i am still keeping very busy.

Sweet Melody, that is Bill top left, bass player/vocals, no longer with us but what a great singer, RIP

Des top right, lead vocal/rhythm guitar, now runs his own entertainment agency & musical shop, & also entertains around the east coast circuit with his unique Rock n Roll show.

Me bottom left, Drums/vocals, yes my hair was long then, got mistaken for a girl drummer a couple of times.

Dave bottom right, Lead guitar/vocals, was very quite them days this picture was around 1985/6 when he was still in his nappys, gone onto big things now with his group The Hicksville Bombers, who i have had the pleasure in standing in for Bryn the drummer a couple of times when he couldn't make the gigs, the Bombers have played the USA (New York) Italy, France & appeared at the Americana at Newark showground & have played with some great names like, Joe Brown, Lonnie Donegan(RIP) Marty Wilde & many more, there is a link for there site on this page, & also he has a trio called Country Cattin, there are no drums in this band as they go for the late 50s sound.
